Bette's Box of Blessings - Finding Holiness

⁵ “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

Taking off his sandals was a sign of respect and submission…he was humbling himself in the presence of a holy God.  The ground where Moses was standing was holy because of God’s presence.  Later in Exodus we read about the construction of the tabernacle and what was called the Holy of Holies, where the high priest would enter into God’s presence on the Day of Atonement.

When Christ was crucified and God tore the veil separating the people from the Holy of Holies, I’ve heard it said that it was not only to allow us to enter into His presence, but also a sign that God was now everywhere with us…in our presence!

With that as our backdrop, let’s take a peak at what’s in this month’s Box of Blessings:

"Everywhere Holy" by Kara Lawler. A few months ago, I received a call informing me that my 93-year-old father had fallen and broken his neck. It was a devastating situation, and my immediate instinct was to rush to be by his side. As I hastily packed my belongings, I grabbed the recently arrived book, "Everywhere Holy."
