As we get further into the new year we get to that point where we grudgingly admit that it’s no longer “new.”  And it reminds me of something my Mom used to say when I was a little girl: “Nothing lasts forever!”

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that yes, we do go through seasons of life, none of which (thankfully!) lasts forever.  However, something else I’ve learned is that there is something that does pass the test of time.  And that’s our heavenly Father’s love for us.  This month’s theme verse comes from Psalm 107 verse 1(b):

His love endures forever.  (NIV)

Some translations say, “His faithful love endures forever.”  Other translations say, “steadfast love.”  The New King James version says, “His mercy endures forever.”  All that to say, His love for us is very hard to describe!  When you get a chance, spend some time reading Psalm 107 and see how the psalmist paints four pictures of God’s love for His people.  He describes God rescuing the wanderers (verses 4-9); the prisoners (10-16); the sick (17-22); and the storm-tossed (23-32).  All different seasons that we can relate to.

No matter what season you are in, remember that He is always with you and that His love endures forever.  How can we be sure to remember that?  By keeping His Word in our heart.  And this month’s Box of Blessings is here to help you do that!

Are you desperate to have God and His Word as a constant source of nourishment for your weary soul?  That is the question that author Janet Pope is asking you.  In her book, His Word In My Heart, she shares how her life was changed by the process of thinking and meditating on specific truths learned by memorizing scripture.  Now I will confess this has always been a challenge for me.  I had the awesome experience of meeting Janet Pope several years ago and even attended a retreat that she spoke at, so I was very interested in reading her book where she reveals how she trained herself to incorporate Scripture memorization into her daily routines.

Another way to have His Word as a constant source of nourishment is the beautiful devotional journal, More Jesus – What Your Heart Needs for the Hard Days.  With 100 devotional readings and prayers touching on topics like illness, anxiety, loss, failure, and worry, this would make a wonderful gift for someone you love who is having a difficult time remembering that God’s love endures forever.

Randy Frazee says that every believer needs to ask these three questions:  (1) What do I believe?  (2) What should I do?  (3) Who am I becoming?  The book Believe – Living the Story of the Bible to Become Like Jesus, is the perfect resource to help us answer those questions.  Based on selections from the New King James version, you will discover that what you believe in your heart will define who you become.  “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)

When our heart is filled with His Word, we can’t help but think of ways to share Him with others.  This month’s Box of Blessings gives you the opportunity to share your faith with the enclosed, beautiful Christian greeting cards.  Whether you want to celebrate someone’s birthday or tell them that you’re praying for them, you’ll find that these cards have the perfect, Christ-centered sentiment!

I thought the Hidden in my Heart necklace would be the perfect pairing with this Box.  When you lift up the heart charm you will see this month’s scripture verse, “His love endures forever.”  (Psalm 107:1)  Put this with the book, His Word in My Heart and you have the perfect gift!

Earlier I mentioned how seasons end but His love endures forever.  What season are you in?  Have you wandered a bit?  Are you a prisoner to sin?  Do you have an affliction?  Or maybe you are in the middle of a storm-tossed season that feels like it will never end.

The Bible tells us that even in trying times we are to give thanks to our heavenly Father (1 Thessalonians 5:18).  It also tells us that He is always with us (Matthew 28:20) and that He never leaves nor forsakes His children (Deuteronomy 31:6).  Afterall, His love endures forever.
