Bette's Box of Blessings - An Offering of Hope and Inspiration
FairHope Notes
As we do journey through the complexities of life, do you find yourself grappling with an inner critic, whispering doubts and insecurities into the depths of your soul? I, too, am familiar with its whispers, and when I’m not careful, they start to take root. And then they lead to worrying and self-doubt.
Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 CSB)
So, the Apostle Paul tells us to stop worrying. Stop listening to those negative, inner thoughts. He says, “in everything” (not “some” things, or just those things I can’t solve), in everything present your requests to God. And His peace will guard our hearts and minds.
Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable – if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy – dwell on these things. Do what you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
(Philippians 4:8-9 CSB)
Paul gives us a list of things we can focus on, and he reassures us that God’s peace will be with us.
